Happy Spring! We hope everyone had a healthy, safe winter and is looking forward to warmer weather and fun at the lake.

The next regular meeting of the LCIA Board will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30PM in Chaffee Hall. Please feel free to come and bring any issues or concerns to the attention of the board members during the Public Comments section of the meeting. Once the agenda for the meeting is finalized it will be available at this link.

A few improvements are happening here at the lake this spring. The new parking area at Main Beach has been completed and will accommodate a few more cars than could park previously. Please note that this parking is in place for the convenience of those who are using the beach area. In addition, the long awaited playscape has arrived. The construction is planned for April and the area at the far end of the Chaffee Hall property has been excavated. With the help of volunteers who are willing to help with construction, this project will finally be completed in time for use during our busy warm weather season. The LCIA Board is also working to finalize plans for road improvements that are sorely needed, especially after our rainy winter. We are hoping to begin work this spring, with a special focus on dirt roads that have suffered greatly in recent years.

Welcome to any new owners and residents! There have been several homes changing hands in the past 6 months and it is always nice to get to meet new people. In addition to this site, we recommend that anyone who is active on Facebook (Meta) join the Lake Chaffee Community site to stay in touch with neighbors and informed about things happening around the lake. The Ashford Connecticut Community Connections page is also very informative about the town in general.

Just a reminder that during the July LCIA Membership meeting we will be holding elections for the LCIA Board of Directors (BOD). All board members are volunteers who have a desire to help maintain and improve our community. All BOD positions are unpaid.

Each year we elect all Board Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) , two regular board members and three alternates. Although incumbents might choose to run again, nominations will be open for residents who would be interested in joining the board as an officer, a regular or alternate . This year, our current Treasurer will not be running again, consequently, we are certain that we will need someone to step into that key role.

All officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) serve for a one year term as do alternate Board members. Regular Board members serve for a three year term.

In addition, there are several chairperson positions which will need to be filled, including but not necessarily limited to Beach, Dam, and Road Chairs. Chairpersons are not elected by open election but are appointed by the Board. Additional committee members are also needed to assist the chairs.

The LCIA Board members would like to encourage anyone who is curious about or interested in any of these roles to attend one of our upcoming meetings to learn more, and talk to the current board members.

These regulations have been created by the board and voted on by members at the time of their implimentation. They are in place to keep Lake Chaffee a safe and enjoyable place for all.
