Lake Chaffee was formed from a small pond and surrounding swamp when an earthen dam/levee was installed sometime prior to 1934. The community is comprised of about 700 lots and presently fewer than 260 Lake Chaffee property owners.
Lake Chaffee Improvement Association leadership is a BOARD OF DIRECTORS comprised of four (4) OFFICERS elected to one-year terms and six (6) DIRECTORS elected to three-year overlapping terms. One or more of the three (3) ALTERNATES, each elected to a one year term, is seated as voting member of the board in the absence of an officer or director. Elections are scheduled for the third Sunday in July. The Board of Directors normally meets at the Lake Chaffee Hall at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month.
Committees are created and dissolved at the descretion of the LCIA Board of Directors. The chair of each committee is appointed by the LCIA President subject to confirmation by the Board of directors. Committee chairs are expected to attend all LCIA Board and Membership meetings and report (in person or in writing) on the activities of their respective committees during the preceding period.
